David R. Mendelsohn, MD
Dr. David R. Mendelsohn says variety is the spice of life, or at least the spice of his career! "I chose the specialty of family medicine because it allows me to see a variety of patients," Dr. Mendelsohn explained. "I like developing relationships with them and their families."
Each day is different for Dr. Mendelsohn. The morning might see him helping an adult patient with a dermatology problem or sore throat, while the afternoon might be filled with children in need of school physicals and flu shots. Regardless of age or ailment, he sees his patients' health problems as challenges which keep him excited about his work. "I really enjoy helping patients battling hypertension, diabetes and high cholesterol," Dr. Mendelsohn said. "I want to help them lead healthier lives.
Outside of work, Dr. Mendelsohn stays active by hiking and snowboarding. He also enjoys traveling and taking pictures of his travels, and he especially enjoys when his wife comes along with him. When he's at home, Dr. Mendelsohn enjoys playing with his three dogs and one cat. "And," he added, "I love cheering for my UNC Tar Heels!"
